I should call this post "I can't believe we're grown-ups". Molly and I have been friends forever and I had the opportunity today to take pictures of her and her beautiful kids. It was so much fun exploring with the kids and getting a new nickname(Melo). Molly, I hope you like them. Love you bunches!

Introducing "You Pick" Packages!

I've had so many of you call me and say "but I only want a few pictures" and "I don't want to spend that much". Well, I've thought about your requests and come up with several packages to choose from. Introducing my "You Pick" Packages. You pay the sitting fee, view your pictures in your online gallery and depending on your budget, choose which pictures and how many you want. To celebrate my new pricing packages, I'm offering $50 off of my sitting fee for the month of January.

$150.00 sitting fee ($100 January Sessions)- The sitting fee includes the time and talent of the photographer, driving to and from the agreed upon location, and an online, password protected, viewing gallery of all edited pictures.

I have three "You Pick" packages available. You pick the prints that you want from your online gallery and I give you a print released CD with those images on it.

IHF "Smile"

Anytime I enter an IHF photo contest, I always pick photos that evoke some sort of emotion in me. When I heard that this week's theme was going to be "smile" I immediately started thinking of people in my life that make me smile. I chose a picture of my big sister. You have no idea how special my big sis is to me. Other than my husband, she literally is my other half. She has walked through so much of life with me....as I'm sure most sisters have. I run to her for advice on everything.....from whether these shoes match this outfit.......to how in the world do I make this life changing decision. She is such a Godly woman and has discipled me more than she knows. Thank you, Michele, for loving me, regardless. Thank you for being someone that I can be myself with....that laughs at all my jokes....and continues to show me truth. I love you so much!

I've been trying to think of a word to describe the Hendrix family. The only word that I can think of is precious but precious does not do them justice. I'm seriously thinking that there should be a word that means beyond precious. This family is so unbelievably sweet. I had such a fun time photographing them. It's always a joy when work doesn't feel like work, but is super fun instead. Steve and Faith, I hope you guys love these.

IHF Best Face Photo of 2010

The first theme of the year for I Heart Faces is the best face photo from 2010. My favorite face from 2010 is the face of my sweet niece Emory. My husband and I have moved quite a bit in the past year. I'm so thankful that one of the places we ended up was Columbia, SC. I was only about 50 minutes from my little sister. Turns out that while we were living in Columbia she found out that she was pregnant. At 31 weeks she went to the doctor for her regular visit and found out that she had preeclampsia. She also found out that she was infected with a virus called CMV. CMV, if passed to the baby could be devastating. Her placenta was bad because of the CMV and wasn't giving the nutrients to the baby. She was referred to a high risk pregnancy doctor. She ended up going into labor at 35 weeks. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal. However, Emory was much smaller than a normal baby at this stage. Well, sweet little Emory was born weighing 3 lbs, 6 ounces. This picture is from the first time that I was able to hold her in the NICU. I marveled at how something so tiny could be so perfect. Guys, you have no idea what a blessing this little girl has been to our family. I am smitten with her. She is now 6 months and weighs a whopping 12 lbs. I am in awe of the God that we serve and how good He is. Regardless of our circumstances, regardless of the outcome, HE IS GOOD and deserves every bit of our praise.

The S family Maternity Session

I have known Leslie forever. We have shared so much our lives together. I am so thankful to have such a life long friend that loves me regardless of me. I'm so excited to have been able to do her maternity pictures. It's crazy how gorgeous she is. I blogged more pictures than usual because there were just so many good ones. It would be really hard for her to take a bad picture. Congratulations Evan and Leslie! I love you guys.

I was so excited to see Jessica this evening. We went to school together but it's been years since we've seen one another. Jessica is pregnant with a sweet baby girl. I'm so excited that I had the opportunity to take her maternity pictures. I wish I looked as good as she does when I was pregnant.

Happy Birthday but for who???

Today was my sweet hubby's birthday. He really did have a good day. We met him for lunch. His work got him a carrot cake. By the way, he hates carrot cake. For those of you that will be reading this that work with him...... carrot cake is not the best choice for a co-worker's birthday. Stick with things that are safe. You know... chocolate or vanilla. Anyway, I cooked dinner and the kids gave him his birthday gift. Scott has had his ipad for awhile. He and the kids both use it to watch Netflix all the time. It's been a pain in the butt to not have anything to prop it on. So what do you think he got??? No, not underwear. Yes, he got a super cool stand for his ipad. The only problem is who was it really for. You know, it's like that time when JS bought me a Diego movie for my birthday. I mean I like Diego as much as the next mom but for my birthday....yeah. Here is a picture of the kids enjoying "daddy's" birthday present. The show must have been exciting. I love their expressions. (btw, that pic was taken at at a 3200ISO)

The Hunsberger Family

Moving has it's perks. You get to meet really great people. Some of those people become your friends. Just think about it...... had we never done this 6 months in South Carolina I would never have met the Hunsbergers. I met Dave and Isabella at the pool this summer while Dave was playing the role of stay at home dad. He tried to join the "homeschooling mom group". We let him in (piercings and all) just so we could feel a little cooler. I met Kelly shortly after. Who knew that Dave would have such a gorgeous wife? Here's a little sneak peak from their session.

I recently had the opportunity to take pictures of another photographer. I always get really nervous in those situations. What if they pick my picture apart? What if I fail to do the job that they expect? And believe me.... photographers have high expectations.

I honestly felt like I was taking pictures of a friend that I had known all of my life. We had a great time! Here are some of the pictures of the very beautiful, very talented Marissa of Marissa Nicole Photography.

A little about me

I really love creating things. It doesn't matter if it's an outfit that I'm sewing for one of my kids or a meal that I've made up myself. Making something worthwhile feeds my creative side. Creating moments for people to remember is what a photographer's job is. When I am creating something, I feel joy. When I take your pictures I am filled with joy. I tend to be a bit emotional and love that photos evoke so much emotion. To look at a photo and feel something (good or bad) is priceless to me. When I look at a picture of my grandfather that passed away, I am filled with sadness, happiness, honor, admiration and regret. When I look at a picture of one of my children I am filled with joy, laughter, and love.

I also am a super social person. I love people. I love to laugh and have fun. I love that photography brings so many wonderful people into my life. Many of which remain there. I am honored that someone would choose me to document a particular time in their life or the lives of their children. Thank you for trusting me with your memories.
